Why hoses fail around here
Heat and hours. Woodland summers run above 100 degrees for weeks, and hydraulic oil in a working circuit climbs well past 180 degrees, which hardens the inner tube and cracks the cover years before the hose reaches its rated life. Add the abrasion of a hose rubbing on a harvester frame or an excavator boom, and the constant flex on a loader, and a set of hoses installed together fails together. That is the reason we suggest replacing the tired ones next to the one that blew while the trip fee is already paid.
Before you go looking for the leak
Never feel for a pinhole leak with your hand. Fluid at working pressure penetrates skin at 100 psi and most circuits run over 2,000 psi; an injection wound looks like a pinprick and can cost a finger without surgery within hours. Hose repair questions
Can you make a hydraulic hose on site, or does it go back to a shop?
On site. The truck carries a crimper, hose stock in the common sizes and pressure ratings, and the fittings Yolo County equipment uses. We measure the failed hose, cut and crimp a new one at the machine, and it is running again usually within the hour.
How much does a mobile hose replacement cost?

Do you match the original fittings?
Yes. JIC 37 degree, ORFS flat-face, SAE O-ring boss, NPT, code 61 and 62 flanges, and metric DIN and JIS for Kubota, Komatsu and other imports. If a fitting is serviceable we reuse it; if it is a reusable field fitting we say so.
Should I replace the other hoses while you are there?
If they are the same age, usually yes, because they share one trip fee and they are going to fail on the same schedule. We point out the ones that look tired and let you decide. We never replace a hose you did not approve.
