Harvest season is the emergency season
Yolo County’s processing tomato harvest runs from late July into October and rice follows from September into November, and for those weeks a hydraulic failure is not a repair, it is acres not picked before the next storm or the cannery cutoff. What is the after-hours charge?
A flat $150 to $300 on top of normal rates for nights after 6 pm, weekends and holidays, stated before the truck rolls. Growers on the tomato and rice harvest route get extended hours at normal rates in season.
Can you fix it on site or will the machine have to be hauled?
Hoses, fittings and most leaks are fixed on site from the truck. A cylinder gets pulled on site and rebuilt in the shop, so the machine stays where it is. Pumps and valves are the same. Hauling is rare and we would say so on the phone.
What should I do while I wait for the truck?
Shut the machine down and relieve pressure. Do not feel for the leak with your hand. Contain the oil if you can. Find the cylinder or hose tag, take a photo of the fitting ends, and text or describe them so we bring the right parts the first time.
Do you handle emergencies for warehouses, or only farms?
